Cortex Chronicles 6 - The Infiltration of Nyx Sterling

In this action game for the Playdate, you are Nyx Sterling, a cat-burgler turned freedom fighter. She has to infiltrate the facility where Doctor Ignatius Cogwell is developing MoodMorph, a mind altering drug. We have to prevent him from completing his research and deploy it, further increasing the control Prime Nexus' control over society.

Developed for the March'24 Game Creator's Club at Lusofona University. This time, the theme was "Playdate", so of course I decided to make a game for it.
This is the sixth game in the "The Cortex Chronicles" - I want all the games I do for the Game Creator's Club this year to be linked together, hence this idea. I also want to use a different engine on every entry, so let's see how that goes! :)
This time, I did everything from scratch with the Playdate Lua SDK

Install instructions
Download and load it to the Playdate, or run the simulator and drag the pdx file.

Instructions:
- Use the crank to move Nyx forward/backward
- If spotted by the enemy, a fight will ensue and you have to press the button corresponding to the prompt. You'll always lose some stamina, so avoid combat if possible
- If you sneak behind an enemy, you can use the B button to enter strangle mode. In strangle mode, twist the crank as fast as possible to strangle the enemy and get rid of him without spending stamina
- If you die, you can restart on the same level
- Some guards have keys necessary to open doors
